About the Institute
The Civil Aviation Institute at AUCE is an elite training and academic center dedicated to aviation education, flight operations, air transportation management, and aeronautical safety sciences. Adhering to international aviation regulatory standards, the Institute prepares licensed commercial pilots, air traffic managers, and aviation executives equipped with technical mastery, operational discipline, and uncompromising safety standards.
Academic Departments & Training Divisions
The Institute encompasses specialized aeronautical and aviation management departments:
Department of Flight Operations & Pilot Training: Ground School Theory, Private Pilot License (PPL), Commercial Pilot License (CPL), Instrument Rating (IR), and Multi-Engine Rating (MER).
Department of Air Traffic Management & Navigation: Air Traffic Control (ATC) Operations, Radar & Tower Simulation, Airspace Management, and Aeronautical Telecommunications.
Department of Aviation Management & Airport Operations: Airport Administration, Airline Logistics, Aviation Economics, Flight Scheduling, and Passenger Service Management.
Department of Aviation Safety & Flight Security: Human Factors in Aviation, Accident Investigation, Flight Safety Management Systems (SMS), and Aviation Security Regulations.
Department of Aeronautical Technology & Maintenance Engineering: Aircraft Systems, Avionics, Airframe & Powerplant Maintenance Management, and Airworthiness Standards.
System of Study & Academic Credit Hours
The university operates under an Integrated Credit Hour & Flight Hours System that combines theoretical ground instruction, advanced flight simulator training, ATC practical labs, and actual flight logbook hours.
Undergraduate Degree Program (B.Sc. in Civil Aviation Sciences & Management):
Total Academic Credit Hours: 160 Credit Hours.
Duration of Study: 4 Academic Years (comprising 3 years of academic, technological, and ground school coursework alongside concurrent flight/ATC simulator sessions, followed by 1 full year dedicated to Practical Flight Training / ATC Internships and a Senior Aviation Project).

Students gain practical flight and operational experience through specialized university centers and partner aviation organizations:
AUCE Advanced Flight Simulation Center: A state-of-the-art facility equipped with full-flight simulators (FFS), fixed-base flight training devices (FTD), and glass-cockpit procedural trainers.
AUCE Air Traffic Control Simulation Lab: Advanced 360-degree radar and tower control simulation units for real-time airspace and ground traffic management training.
Network of Partnered Airports, Airlines & Flying Academies: Strategic affiliations with international flight academies, commercial airlines, national civil aviation authorities, and international airports for flight hour logging and operational internships.
Graduate Studies: Master’s & Doctoral Degrees
The Civil Aviation Institute offers accredited Master of Science (M.Sc.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees across key aviation management and aeronautical safety fields.
Master of Science (M.Sc.) Programs
Focused on executive aviation management, air transport economics, and advanced safety systems analysis.
Duration of Study: 2 Academic Years.
Total Credit Hours: 45 Credit Hours (comprising advanced coursework, operational research, and a master’s thesis defense).
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programs
Designed for university faculty roles, national civil aviation authority leadership, global aviation policy consultancy, and original scientific research.
Duration of Study: 3 Academic Years.
Total Credit Hours: 60 Credit Hours (including advanced research seminars, independent aviation policy/safety research, and an original doctoral dissertation).
