Academic Departments The Faculty consists of specialized departments covering the full spectrum of physical therapy and rehabilitation sciences: Department of Basic Sciences for Physical Therapy: Human Anatomy, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, and Pathology. Department of Neuromuscular Disorders & Neurosurgery Rehabilitation: Physical Therapy for Stroke, Spinal Cord Injuries, Peripheral Nerve Injuries, and Neurodegenerative Disorders. Department of Musculoskeletal Disorders & Orthopedic Surgery Rehabilitation: Physical Therapy for Bone Fractures, Joint Replacements, Sports Injuries, and Soft Tissue Disorders. Department of Cardiovascular & Respiratory Disorders & Geriatrics: Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Physical Therapy, and Geriatric Care. Department of Pediatrics & Pediatric Surgery Rehabilitation: Physical Therapy for Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delays, Pediatric Orthopedic Conditions, and Congenital Disorders. Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Women’s Health: Physical Therapy for Antepartum/Postpartum Care, Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, and Women’s Health Rehabilitation. System of Study & Academic Credit Hours The university applies an Integrated Credit Hour System combining interactive lectures, clinical skills laboratories, motion analysis training, and direct hospital clinical practice. Undergraduate Degree Program (B.Sc. / DPT Equivalent): Total Academic Credit Hours: 200 Credit Hours. Duration of Study: 6 Academic Years (comprising 5 years of academic and practical coursework followed by 1 full year of compulsory Clinical Internship). Affiliated Rehabilitation Centers & Training Hospitals Clinical education and practical training take place in specialized rehabilitation facilities and university teaching hospitals: AUCE University Rehabilitation Center: A state-of-the-art facility equipped with advanced motion analysis laboratories, electrotherapy units, hydrotherapy pools, and robotic rehabilitation systems. AUCE Pediatric Physical Therapy & Neurorehabilitation Unit: Specialized center dedicated to pediatric developmental care, sensory integration, and intensive motor training. Network of Partnered Teaching Hospitals: Affiliations with major tertiary care hospitals, sports medicine centers, and specialized orthopedic clinics for clinical rotations. Graduate Studies: Master’s & Doctoral Degrees The Faculty of Physical Therapy offers accredited Master of Science (M.Sc.) and Doctor of Physical Therapy / Doctor of Philosophy (DPT / Ph.D.) degrees across all physical therapy subspecialties. Master of Science (M.Sc.) Programs Focused on advanced clinical rehabilitation skills, specialized manual therapy, and clinical research. Duration of Study: 2 Academic Years. Total Credit Hours: 45 Credit Hours (comprising specialized clinical modules, hospital rotations, and a master’s thesis defense). Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) / Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Programs Designed for clinical mastery, university faculty roles, rehabilitation center leadership, and original research in movement science. Duration of Study: 3 Academic Years. Total Credit Hours: 60 Credit Hours (including advanced clinical fellowship hours, specialized practical training, and an original doctoral dissertation).
